Bob!

This review of spirits is so brilliant. I am bubbling with excitement and ever so grateful for your insights. I sense a gathering of Comanche nunnupi by an elder mesquite tree who roots are entangled with Kaku( Grandmother) They enjoy tequila and honey and wax poetic at times.

Appreciate these thoughts, Rob. It’s interesting to me how many spiritual but not religious people look to Indigenous cultures for wisdom, but categorically dismiss the unseen beings who are partnered with that wisdom.

Rob - I’m a huge fan of yours. Been subscribed to your stuff for years.

I was tickled to see you quoting my dad, George, here!

I hope you know that my dad was of course well aware of other culture’s ideas and images of god. And that he was raised Catholic making a broad point about Judeo-Christian religions in a very clever and comedic way.

🙏🏻😊🙏🏻💜🙏🏻

He taught me to be curious about the mystery of life, the numinosity, the transcendent.

He was a very influential person. I wish he would have expressed a more nuanced message to his vast public. While he may have had a more varied and profound understanding of the Divine than is apparent in his bits, many of of the young men whose philosophy he impacted did not and do not. That makes me very sad. That said, I love the video of him and Bill Hicks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvz9uSK3zXo&list=RDcvz9uSK3zXo&start_radio=1

Of course, I wish that too. Trust me.

But I’m here and you’re here to do our versions of the awakening work.

As he said, “ scratch the surface of a cynic, and you will find a brokenhearted idealist.”

He used a sledge hammer for these big topics.

But he also, for decades leading up to that piece, used beautiful, nuanced observational humor to connect us all too.

And his love of humanity came through in many ways.

That’s why I wrote my memoir about my family and my life.

That’s why I do the transformational work I do.

That’s why I produced the HBO doc, to show his humanity.

But his path was different. Different generation.

Different fight.

I wish he had lived longer so his newer work could have revealed his next phase.

And I hope the young men find a path to the sacred.

🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻
