last Tuesday, October 24th it was my grandmothers birthday, at noon I shared with my prayer partners a portion of your newsletter which affected them profoundly . On Sunday, the message of hope and resilience spread to our worship time and your words graced our spiritual instruction …. check it out… ancestors whispering… .. we can spread light i love when we pray and read to one another https://www.youtube.com/live/ss5tZA2F12I?si=GH4V2LDQVYjZsBHq
Sometimes I wonder if the world WE see now reflects the number of prayers and surrender to the "not my ego but our love, be done, not my rightness but the accumulation of rightness be done". Like: the only way to heal the whole is to leach the emotional pain. Like Clarke said herein, to see the pain and love it anyway, making natural changes to myself, without seeing myself as flawed for the before parts. Where the pain is being parsed and diminished in the balance of light and shadow.
moving and rooted writing per usual, brother Rob. The honest and yet pronoiac approach is much appreciated. I’d love to see positive news story reporting increase too. Have you heard of the Progress Network yet? They do that.
And yeah I just watched Disney’s “Cruella” last night and am realizing more deeply after reading your post just how inoculated our modern psyches have become with revenge fantasies. And yet I wonder when more people will realize that if we were to live all of those out, there wouldn’t be very many of us left lifting now would there? We do like it when an oppressed person or group comes out victorious and regains some of their lost power and respect. And Justice is wonderful. And yet, does it need the violence an the bloodshed and the trauma bombs people blast all over their social networks? I’m not sure it does.
Much prefer what you’re proposing here. Much prefer us to all learn to get along with one another. And do realize that’s an exercise in consistency and will be much simpler in some areas and with some people or institutions in our lives than others and there is great nuance that I don’t feel to suss out in this comment. Alas, deep appreciations for your heart & mind.
I first came across your writing through a friend and cohabitator named Kim who at the time worked for Al Jazeera. Prior to that, CNN. I wonder how she is. Anywho, pronoia was and is a concept that moved me back then in 2014/15. To find that you have a Substack has been an excitement of the week this week!
Perhaps if I’m lucky our paths will some days cross, brother Brezsny. Peace be your way & all of ours. May we continue to choose the more loving and generative and caring and empathetic and compassionate path and feel all that other stuff too.
The first paragraph after the heading “Grief and Rage” was very insightful. I was wondering if I can repost that paragraph in my Instagram account obviously giving you and Freewill Astrology credit.
we are all connected
