Great article. Thank you. What bothers me is that the Evangelicals have hijacked the term "Christian" where there are many people who call themselves Episcopalian, Methodist, Quaker, Catholic, who have better more moderated ideas about these things. The National Cathedral is a good outfit to look for guidance for true Christianity - and I have seen Bishop Budde speak. The Evangelicals have hijacked a message and the media along with it - they don't have the history or the knowledge to speak with Authority. I know I am mincing words - but words matter. Your article was refreshing and helpful. For years I was an atheist and then a true believer in communism, then found the writings of wise teachers and moved away from that. But some of them said that Communism filled the gap of a Lack of religion and God - a god in a godless age. The Progressives think they know everything - and although their heart is in the right place - they get too dogmatic, self righteous, and the country tunes out their voices. My life was turned around by a group of black men where I worked who truly believed in the message of God. They turned me around, got me on a good path, helped me remember my worth....this was down south in Manufacturing - and I was in Leadership. What a profound, positive, Noble mystery they were, along the lines of what Martin Luther King taught - Character matters. I know that group helped me profoundly. So life Is mysterious, your article was spot on, and I have been worried about the same myself. Thank you Teacher.

Your response amazes me. I've read it twice. It's as if God set you on a journey where you discovered gems of truth in every scene. It concludes with what is most revelatory in the Great Mystery, and that is our character -- the soul that informs this human structure in which it dwells. It is sacred, always intact, but the vagaries of human life often distorts it and we deceive ourselves, sometimes tragically for self and others. If we tune into it, at long last, and are true to it our life becomes a joy worth living, and we lead others back to their own. Deep gratitude for your thoughts.

Thank you. This needed to be said, and you did so very powerfully. The fact that many of the immigrants from Central and South America are devout Christians only makes the hypocrisy more blasphemous. Thank you again. I don't think that many evangelicals are reading your column; they should.

If Trump is the anti-Christ, then someone needs to be the Christ-like leader. Where are our Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mandela, and George Washington? We need a leader with that kind of moral courage, unwavering integrity, and the vision to unite rather than divide—a presence who acts from principle, not ego, and inspires a nation to be its better self.

Thank you Rob…🌷

“The irony is incandescent. They pray in stadiums, swaying to the anthem of power, while Jesus whispers from the margins: "Whatever you did to the least of these, you did to me." (Matthew 25:40)

They shout about morality while crucifying kindness. They exalt a vicious, bullying false messiah who brags of grabbing, bombing, caging, and cheating. And they dare to call that salvation.” — BOOM!

Christianity…or any other dogmatic approach, has long had within it’s structure the trap of just another superiority view of “spirituality/beingness.”

Any “superior” approach, whether it’s christian non-dual, buddhist, hindi, muslim, atheist, etc. has already chosen a slippery slope, and invites the opportunity for exploitation, control, judgement, and exclusion.

We see this in even what many describe as “awakening” teachings…Lord knows that’s been the case here. 🤦‍♀️

Thanks for such an important post Rob…🙏

As-above-so-below…

The tragedy of modern Christianity is its obsession with doctrines, dogmas, SUPERIORITY, and exclusivity.

This is ALSO the tragedy of neo-advaita or non-duality.

There are many non-dual teachers who equate advaita with the teachings of The Christ.

Yet The Christ’s teachings went *far beyond* the mere ND field and *included* honor, honesty and integrity.

Any “superior” approach, whether it’s christian non-dual, buddhist, hindi, muslim, atheist, etc. has already chosen a slippery slope practice, and invites the opportunity for exploitation, control, judgement, and exclusion.

If one hasn’t processed and cleared out their subconscious “psychological basement” of cultural, religious, and familial fear-based and limiting beliefs, one will be susceptible to being controlled or capable of being controlled by a variety of “monsters” in various religious, monastic, OR political garb.

Christ would have *NEVER* allowed such abuse as I experienced in this lifetime to happen on his watch…no less the sweeping cover-up for such harm. The same could be said for what we are currently seeing on the political stage. 💔⚖️
