Rob, I followed your weekly horoscopes for years, until I quit picking up the free paper it was in. About a month ago, a Facebook post of yours showed up in my feed. I was thrilled to see that I could get your work again, without having to add another newspaper to the recycling. All that to say, Promote all your work as much as you want. I don't mind. And when I can, I'll buy something. I appreciate that you put so much out at no charge to us consumers.

Agreed! Wholeheartedly!

Everything you said! Promote away, Rob, I have been reading you since the Village Voice days, and you are a distinct, unique, and needed voice. I own Pronoia, and I am going to buy another of your books right this minute!

I had almost the exact same experience , albeit , a few years previous to yours. Which means I have been benefiting from Rob’s positive, full of incite , writings even longer and just a year ago began a paid account ! People need to get a life!!! We love you Rob ❤️

My friend, though I may not avail myself of EVERYTHING you post, especially for free, I am so grateful you do. I have followed you for many many years: especially during these turbulent times, a sane and measured voice is much needed.

Whoa, I had no idea that folks would object to your very respectful way of including your other works, as well as links to lots of free things. I would have imagined that anyone could avail themselves of passing on by to whatever it is about your newsletter that they DO look for. Substack content creators that I follow (paid or not) ALL do some sort of gentle, tasteful self-promotion of their work and your offerings certainly fall into that category for me. Nothing "in your face" at all except the actual body (homily? LOL) of your writing in each week's discussion and horoscope readings... it's what makes YOU, well... YOU.

And your very mature response by sending out one additional email this Saturday is totally classy. Thank you AGAIN for all you do and offer to us gratis. I, for one, am grateful, especially when the budget is so strapped.

Thank you for your consistent and generous offerings to the world. Your regular newsletter adds a lot of beauty to my week and has for many years. Thank you as well for sharing this post. I did not know about many of these intriguing audio works.

Rob,

I enjoy your work and I look forward to your weekly posts. You do not need to apologize to me. Just keep sending me your profound understandings of the worlds about us. That guides me well.

Rob: I have always enjoyed your Horoscopes and read them for many years in our now defunct local free newspaper in Missoula, Montana The Independent. I am more than happy to pay for your work. I have learned from a good friend who owns an art gallery here that too many people ask artists to donate their artwork to "good causes." She firmly instructed me that a person can ask an artist to create art for them and be willing to pay full price for it; if the artist OFFERS to donate or give it at a reduced price, then you can accept. You would never ask a surgeon or a plumber to give their services away for free. Thanks for all of the content you work so hard to create. Promote it all you want!!! XOXO Nancy

Some people suck. Ignore them. Promote everything you do and if they don't like it they don't have to read it. If they say something mean, block them. They have lost the right to you. I love your work! Have a great day from a Pisces!

I'm totally with you on this, Rob. Promote away. How would we know what you have to offer, if you did not? Thank you!!

You are wonderful, I love your work and I will check out the books. You offer so much so generously, and your book mentions are done with gracious style . Thanks for all you do for everyone.

I'm stunned that with all you give, people still complain!

I have followed you for decades and appreciate everything you do. Am thrilled you're on Substack. Ignore the idiots! I'm sure they have no idea who you are and that your reputation precedes you.

Bring it, Brother! So generous. The only question I have is: now that you've listed everything you've done and offered, did you give yourself a pat on the back? You deserve it! Don't forget a little self love!

Excellent point! I’m MOTIVATED by Rob’s work flow. I appreciate being driven and reminded to stick to it. Rob? Hope you’re reading this whole thread. Nobody complaining here. It’s practically laughable, but Also?

What a TREAT to get a li’l extra on a Saturday, thanks to the Bozos!

Thank you for sharing this Rob. Apologies for fellow humans who fail to see when gift abundance is in front of them. I wish I was in a position to contribute more to your financial success but am so grateful for all you offer without direct compensation. @adamwilson and the peasantry school work might be a nourishing co-conspirator to look into around his devoted practice and insightful reflections on his gift economy journey.

I purchased Pronoia and other books many years ago and value them highly every time I return to content. I recently introduced the book in a bioregional ReGen space and it was well received.

Although I would greatly prefer things remain the way they are. Full reciprocity calls me to point out that Elizabeth Gilbert (letters from love) and I believe a few others have implemented a “modest” $1 minimum or such to access the comments…meaning you can still let anyone read for free, but if people want to comment they need to have some investment into the process…have heard it eliminated a lot of negativity and bots. People don’t want to spend money to be negative perhaps and most bots yet to pay to play. Something to ponder as you do.

The way I see it, your promotion is not just about selling books and making money. Something you wrote, a book’s offerings might just be the thing that connects with someone, helps them profoundly, changes their life for the better. That would be a wonderful thing!
