I started following you sometime in the 1990s. Time and again, you have open my heart, clarified my thinking and provided me direction. You are truly a blessing, thank you.

That is one of the most accurate and beautifully stated truths you've ever written, Rob Brezny. I am deeply grateful and have shared it around. May the Creator of the Lodgepole Pines bless you; undoubtedly She is delighted!

Thank you. This is a helpful, orienting metaphor that resonates with my own mind and heart and body, resonates somatically. I've been thinking about fire a lot lately, in part because I've been noticing how the other elements are right here visible at all or most times - air, earth, water (and yes, in some places water is not so visible). Fire is usually not just 'there'. Yet it is such a powerful and necessary element of life. Also, last week a friend and I were walking on a very cold icy day here in MN when we came upon a white pine where the sun had cleared the needled grown beneath so we sat, backs against the trunk, meditating for awhile. Then picked up a pine cone that had been sunning itself enough to soften the sap which smelled heavenly. We each took a cone home as a reminder. So now I have this cone on my art table as a reminder of your words today, too. It will help me to be grounded and in action and allowing of what is needed in order to grow new life from this debacle. Thank you again.

Been wondering the same thoughts the last few days. What phoenix will rise out of the ashes? I believe our system hasn't been nearly as powerful and well-organized as we thought. Unfortunately, all the ugliness hasn't been revealed. However, I do believe that, in another version of the US, the murderer would already have been imprisoned and would be awaiting a trial. It's just that moving through all of this is so painful, and makes me look at the emotional violence within myself that needs to be addressed.

My feelings exactly. Thank you.

I've been following you for decades, it seems. I first started following you when I was on an assignment in LA in the late 80's/early 90's. I'm always helped by your posts about Cancers.

You sing to my soul Rob. My favorite on the list: young people refusing to inherit their elders’ fatalism. And I had not seen the Alan Paton prayer before! What a keeper. I hope this is redistributed far and wide. I will link to it in my next Substack post. xoxo
