The thing that got me here is that the chart actually agrees with you, structurally.
People treat the Ascendant as the private self, the thing that would radiate the same wattage in every room. But the Ascendant is one end of a line. The Descendant sits at the exact opposite point, and they are not two separate placements, they are one axis. The horizon. You cannot draw the self point without simultaneously drawing the other point, because it is the same gesture.
So the noble fantasy you name has a geometry problem. There is no version of the first house that exists without the seventh. Whatever quality lives out on that far end is something you genuinely cannot reach on your own, only through somebody standing in that spot.
Which makes "who makes you feel real" a good deal less sentimental than it sounds. Some people stand there and hand you back the part of yourself you cannot get to alone. Others stand in the same place and hand you nothing at all.
