Thank you for this. EVERY semester I teach a modified version of this- because of the jolt of anger, betrayal and disillusionment I felt when I learned our violent history, all my students will learn it as all.

Otherwise we continue a legacy of eradication and erasure.

I truly appreciate this important information. So many are oblivious to how the country came to be. We also need to recognize the way the Hawaiian kingdom was stolen. These islands were indigenous lands as well. Repercussions still painfully impact the Hawaiian people.
