We love you, too.

I love you too and all you do. You are brilliant! Many of us have lived our lives based on loving values, inclusion, and tolerance only to get kicked in the teeth by those who live in the authoritarian space. I grew up in a fascist/authoritarian family and have discovered how unyielding it is to healthier liberal values and objectives. Misery and resentment can be great sources of power. This is the swamp that must be drained. I look forward to hearing more from you. ❤️

This is such a rich newsletter this week, Rob. I'm saving it to look back on years from now. My favorite bits include Audre Lorde's words about pain, along with the concepts of idiot compassion and the paradox of tolerance. I'm coming out of a period of refusing to believe in evil and letting others' negative, draining energy in, with the misguided intention of loving and accepting everyone, no matter what. I'm waking up to the importance of setting boundaries, not only to protect myself, but also to soundly reject any ideals not aligned with peace, love, acceptance, and beauty. And I'm realizing this can still be done with love and compassion - that it IS love and compassion.

I was looking at your list of alternative media and wondered what you think about 1440? I've found it to be unbiased with a pleasant mixture of stories, including lots of positive news.

Is Pronoia still a viable way to go? Are you kidding me? For me, it's the only way to survive (she says as she stumbles to her knees in the struggle to stand tall again).

Another rich, semi-free resource to add to the list of alternative media: https://www.readtangle.com/about/

The premise is quite simple: It is an independent, nonpartisan presentation of direct quotes and sources about "what the right is saying", "what the left is saying", and then what its founder and professional journalist Isaac Saul thinks about it. His opinion is clearly labeled; he regularly issues measured corrections; he explains editorial policies and decisions; the free posts are still rich with information. This publication has the power to change minds, as it did for one 2020-election-denying-voter: Seeing all perspectives side-by-side convinced him it was, actually, not stolen. In my mind, careful but critical consideration -- of ourselves, of each other, of the relentless churn of capitalism -- is the only option we have left.

Please consider adding it to your media diet, even if it means eliminating another. https://www.readtangle.com/about/

Thank you for sharing! I just signed up for the free subscription and read a newsletter and really enjoyed it. I find this similar/complementary to 1440, and I'm happy to add it to my daily reads. ✌🏻

We should have known things would go sideways when comet Tsuchinshan showed itself. Any good signs coming to reverse it? 😏
